Who Killed Jeffrey Dahmer? A new Netflix series named DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is based on one of the most infamous serial killers in US history, Jeffrey Dahmer.
At least 17 men and boys, most of whom were queer men of color, were killed between 1978 and 1991 by Dahmer (played in the series by Evan Peters).
The Netflix series, which attempted to shed light on Dahmer’s victims, has drawn criticism for concentrating on the killer’s upbringing and past and for falling victim to a number of true crime tropes.
In the end, while incarcerated, Dahmer was murdered by Christopher Scarver (played by Furly Mac). Some of the specifics and events leading up to Dahmer’s death aren’t portrayed, though. So how was Dahmer put to death? Find out by reading on.
Who Killed Jeffrey Dahmer?
On November 28, 1994, Jesse Anderson and Christopher Scarver were given the task of working with Jeffrey Dahmer. When the group was left unattended to work in the prison gym’s restroom, Scarver beat Dahmer and Anderson with a 20-inch iron bar from an exercise machine.
Officers searched the area when Anderson left his cell early and discovered Dahmer and Anderson. Both patients were transported to a neighboring hospital, where Dahmer was pronounced dead an hour later and Anderson passed away from his wounds two days later after being taken off life support.
Scarver had repeatedly slammed Dahmer against the wall, causing significant injuries to his head and face. Dahmer made no sounds while being attacked, according to Scarver.
Why Did Christopher Scarver Kill Jeffrey Dahmer?
Scarver reportedly said to a guard after going back to his cell: “God instructed me to do it. Jeffrey Dahmer and Jesse Anderson have passed away.” The New York Times reported that Scarver had been using anti-psychotic drugs while incarcerated.
The article states: “White men Mr. Dahmer and Mr. Anderson both committed atrocities that harmed racial relations in Milwaukee. Black or Hispanic people made up the majority of Mr. Dahmer’s victims; Mr. Anderson, who killed his wife, claimed that two black men were responsible.”
Although there was no concrete proof, it was conjectured that Scarver’s acts were motivated by race. After receiving his initial life sentence, Scarver allegedly said, “Nothing white people do to blacks is just,” claiming to be a victim of racism.
Scarver was given two further life terms after being found competent to stand trial for the murders of Dahmer and Anderson. It was decided that he wasn’t qualified for parole.
Who is Christopher Scarver?
An American man with a murder conviction is Christopher Scarver. He is famous for being the one who, in 1994, while they were both detained at Columbia Correctional Institution, killed serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Scarver was a trainee carpenter for the Wisconsin Conservation Corps but was unable to work there full-time after his supervisor quit. After that, in 1990, Scarver claimed to be having auditory hallucinations and held Steve Lohman, the new director of the Wisconsin Conservation Corps, at gunpoint while demanding money.
Scarver killed Lohman by shooting him in the head after only collecting $15. After shooting Lohman’s lifeless body twice more, site manager John Feyen gave in to Scarver’s demands for more cash and handed him a $3,000 check.
After leaving the scene, Scarver was apprehended, charged, and given a life sentence for the murder of Steve Lohman. Scarver was a prisoner at Columbia Correctional Institution in 1992.
Is Christopher Scarver Still Alive?
Yes, Christopher Scarver is presently housed in Colorado’s Centennial Correctional Facility. Following Dahmer’s death, he filed a civil rights lawsuit in 2004 against staff members at the Wisconsin Secure Program Facility, alleging that they had treated him cruelly and in violation of his constitutional rights.
