Whoopi Goldberg Gets COVID Again and Will Miss “The View”

After receiving good results for COVID testing, Whoopi Goldberg was excused from appearing on the episode of The View that aired on Monday.

A representative for the longtime daytime presenter who is 67 years old, revealed on Monday to Entertainment Weekly that Goldberg had been experiencing symptoms of illness prior to the broadcast and tests conducted after the show proved that she had been infected with the virus.

In Goldberg’s absence, her co-host on The View, Sara Haines, took over as the show’s moderator, and she was joined by Sunny Hostin and two new co-hosts, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin. Sara Haines also hosted The View before Goldberg.

The outlet says that Joy Behar, who also leads the discussions on the show, was also not there because she was already on vacation this week.

This is the second time that Whoopi Goldberg has been absent from the show due to COVID-related issues. Goldberg was found to be using drugs in January, and he missed a few episodes after the Christmas break.

She told her co-hosts via livestream that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She said that she had started having mild symptoms over the break and had taken a break from the show to rest.

“It was a shock because I’m triple vaxxed, I haven’t been anywhere, I haven’t done anything,” Goldberg said. “It’s one of those things where you think, I’ve done everything I was supposed to do… Yeah, it doesn’t stop omicron.”
