For the third and final season, Power Book II: Ghost has undergone radical transformations. Courtney Kemp, formerly the showrunner, has been promoted to the position of executive producer, and Empire’s Brett Mahoney has assumed the role of showrunner.
That’s just the beginning of the series’ revisions, though, as Tariq’s on-screen story is only going to get more intricate from here on out. So, what can we expect? Here’s the latest on what’s to come and when we may look forward to the show’s return.
According to Starz’s CEO, Jeffrey Hirsch, “The continued success and cultural resonance of the Power universe is unprecedented, and fans are clearly still hungry for more Power Book II: Ghost,” “We’re excited for the third season of the star-studded series to get into production early next year just ahead of the debut of Power Book IV: Force, the fourth installment in the rapidly expanding franchise.” Everything you need to know about the upcoming third season of Power Book II: Ghost is included here.

Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 Potential Release Date: When Will It Air?
Unfortunately, as of November, there is still no information about a definitive release date for Ghost season three, despite the fact that we have been waiting for news for what seems like an eternity. So, it’s not like we’ve got nothing to offer the table. We don’t have a premiere date for Season 3, but the filming is complete. We can almost taste the release date.
Gianni Paolo and Michael Rainey Jr., who star as Ghost, made the announcement on their podcast, The Crew Has It. The production has finished filming, as Paolo said. Rainey joined in, “Yeah, we just got done filming season three that y’all have been asking for,” adding, “so we can now offer you… not a date, since we don’t know it yet, but that’s all we can tell you at this point since we’re done. Plans are underway for the rest.
Both were tight-lipped about what we should expect, but Rainey was nice enough to hint that season three will be “coming in hot.” Thank goodness, that’s the response we were hoping for! As if we were to have thought otherwise! In early August, we learned that filming was finally done, bringing us tantalizingly close to, if not the actual release, then at least news of its launch.
Season 2 premiered in the fall of 2020, so if season 3 is released around the same time, we might see it in the next few months. We apologize that we can’t be more specific at this time, but please remain tuned. If there is news to share (crossing our fingers), we’ll let you know as soon as possible.

Professor Carrie Milgram (Melanie Liburd), Ezekiel ‘Zeke’ Cross (Daniel Bellamy), and Daniel Sunjata’s Mecca/Danté Spears all died in season two. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of a return appearance in the form of flashbacks or other scenes.
Season three will feature Keesha Sharp, who starred in Lethal Weapon, in a recurring, significant role. Prof. Harper Bonet, “a progressive academic and boho beauty,” will be played by Sharp (via Deadline). More cast members might be revealed as development progresses. Deadline announced in March that Gbenga Akinnagbe, Kyle Vincent Terry, and Caroline Chikezie had joined the cast.
Gbenga, a returning cast member, will play Ron Samuel Jenkins (RSJ) on the show. The business tycoon has worked his way up through college and Harvard Business School, so he is well-versed in the ways of the privileged. Obi, played by Gotham’s Kyle, is a British-educated man who is as adept with a rifle as he is with a commercial deal.
Noma, played by Caroline (of Mayhem fame), is “a worldly and strong woman with a regal presence who has acquired her money with an illicit worldwide empire and is not afraid to safeguard it,” as described by Deadline.

Power Book II: Ghost Season Three Plot: What Will Happen?
After the shocking conclusion of season two, Monet will learn that her husband Lorenzo Tejada (Berto Colon) accidentally shot and murdered their son Zeke. After killing Professor Jabari Reynolds (Justin McManus) and getting away with it, Tariq, who had previously planned to leave the drugs game, has opted to stay and become the new link now that Mecca is gone.
The opposite is true for Tariq, whose college love Lauren was killed in a car accident after being set up by Brayden, who had saved his life by confessing to being the student selling drugs on campus and revealing himself as the CEO of their drug peddling program Course Correct.
In an interview with PopSugar, Rainey hinted that Tariq would be making money and fighting a lot because he was attempting to piece together what had occurred with Lauren and how things had gone. She went on, “It’s going to be hard for [Brayden] to hide one secret from Tariq. You can count on Tariq to figure out a solution because he is resourceful. In the end, he will discover the truth about whatever it is he is investigating.
I look forward to witnessing the ups and downs that are inevitable in the relationships that are about to begin. Things are about to get quite chaotic. Finally, NYPD detective Blanca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) returned, and it was revealed that she was the officer assigned to Mecca, the secret informant. Blanca will return to the scene of the incident in Mecca, and she will be carrying a blurry photo of Tariq with her while she does her investigation.
The third season is going to pick up speed as well, with Cooper Saxe teaming up with Prosecutor Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) to blow the whistle on Davis MacLean’s shady legal practices. Theo Rollins, MacLean’s brother, is serving time for a murder he did not commit, but MacLean is doing what he can to get him out of prison. Thanks to Rainey’s comments on The Crew Has It, we know only that it won’t disappoint, which indicates at the very least that it will be as exciting as prior seasons.
