A vehicle attempting to elude the police ran over a mother and her four children as they got off a school bus. On Tuesday afternoon in Midwood, Brooklyn, New York City, just before five o’clock, police allegedly attempted to pull over a white Mercedes-Benz driving down Flatbush Avenue.
According to ABC News New York City affiliate WABC, the female motorist did not stop before driving off Avenue J and right through many bus stops before striking the family with her vehicle. According to WABC, the mother and two of her children were waiting for the school bus transporting her other two children to arrive when the accident occurred.

One unidentified male witness told WABC that “after the Mercedes hit the mother, the woman flew and hit the ground and the kid was shaking.” Another female witness to the collision told WABC that “[the mother] was under the bus.” “I was wishing her well. It is abhorrent. It isn’t very good.
The mother, 41 and her four children—three daughters, 8, 5 and 1 years old and a son, 3 years old—were all rushed to a nearby hospital where their conditions were all described as stable. According to WABC, the family is expected to survive.
The car involved in the collision was discovered by police investigating the incident nearby at E 24th St and Glenwood Road. However, police sources informed WABC that the female driver abandoned the vehicle there and fled on foot.

Police have not made any arrests, and the incident’s suspect remains at large. The New York Police Department encourages anyone who knows about the collision to reach out to them.
