Significant changes are taking place in the world of fashion mogul Julia Haart as of the recent release of the drama-filled second season of My Unorthodox Life on Netflix. For starters, Julia and her daughter Batsheva Haart are both going through a difficult separation from their father, Silvio Scaglia, and subsequent divorce.

Last year, the couple released a joint statement about their breakup on social media.

“After time and consideration, we have decided to separate,” the statement says, per People. “We have so much love and respect for each other but have realized that it is time to take some space to ensure that each of us lives the most joyous, fulfilling lives possible.

There are no secrets nor salacious events to blame. We are just two best friends who met at a very young age and have grown over the past 9 years, each in our way. We appreciate your continuous support as we embark on this new chapter of our lives separately.”

In the opening episode of season 2, Batsheva provided a bit more insight, stating that they want different things. Batsheva wasn’t ready to create a family and isn’t religious anymore, while Ben wanted a modern Orthodox family to stay kosher (adhere to dietary laws in Jewish law).
