The Republican political candidate was purportedly killed, and text messages claiming “America mourns Dr. Oz” said he had endorsed Smilz CBD Gummies.
Dr. Oz is not dead; he is alive. We’re telling you this because there’s a fake Mehmet Oz death hoax in texts that says, “America mourns Dr. Oz.” They contain links to counterfeit Smilz CBD Gummies or other CBD product pages that falsely claim to have endorsements from Sam Elliott, Garth Brooks, Dr. Phil McGraw, and Mehmet Oz.
Scammy Texts
One Twitter user wrote, “Why did I get a spam text claiming Dr. Oz was dead lmao.” (Expanding the image below will reveal the message.)

“Is Dr. Oz gone? Who sent me this text? “Someone else commented.
Facebook users also talked about getting the texts that directed them to the landing page for the Smilz CBD Gummies. Someone remarked, “I keep receiving IMs stating that Dr. Oz has passed away. He just became a Republican politician; he is not dead.”
Oz is still alive. He just recently declared his Republican candidacy for the Pennsylvania state Senate.

Oz and McGraw Addressed the Scams
Oz and McGraw, better known as “Dr. Phil,” have addressed the issue of the unauthorized use of their identity and image in the past. Both talk show host broadcast episodes in February 2021 devoted to educating listeners about CBD oil and gummy bear scams. The pertinent section starts at 1:38 in the video down below.
McGraw questioned Oz about the scam page that users were directed to after clicking links in ads and text messages during the “Dr. Phil” episode. Oz said, “Shockingly, not a single fact in the document you read was true. I’ve never sold a CBD product.” McGraw added that he had not recommended any such goods.
Because the death hoax served as deceptive bait to draw users to the false product endorsement, the “Dr. Oz is dead” claim was connected to the shady Smilz CBD Gummies product page. Must Check Sharon Redd died of AIDS in Westchester County, New York, at 45.
Gupta addressed the untrue assertion that he had promoted a CBD oil or CBD gummies product in 2018, most likely for a different product than Smilz CBD Gummies. He tweeted, No, I haven’t started a line of CBD goods.

USA Today also stated in January this year that the allegation that Gupta supported CBD gummies was untrue. In addition, PolitiFact reported that a similar death hoax regarding Gupta had circulated to get consumers to click the link in adverts and messages.
Other Celebrities Targeted by CBD Scams
We have previously written about other celebrities who have been used as props in gummy and CBD oil scams. A death hoax was frequently used as bait in many con games. One such hoax, for instance, falsely stated that actor Whoopi Goldberg had passed away and was advertised on Facebook.
The link in the advertisement took users to a Botanical Farms CBD Gummies hoax page that claimed Oprah Winfrey had approved the product. All of this was untrue.
How much money was spent on the advertisements is unknown.
Alex Trebek, Mayim Bialik, Blake Shelton, Keanu Reeves, and Tom Selleck are among the celebrities who have fallen victim to CBD scams. Other phony celebrity endorsements from stars like Drew Carey, Tom Hanks, Randy Jackson, and Halle Berry, to mention a few, were included in similar con games.
Hanks, Bialik, and other famous people have used social media posts to refute these false CBD oil and gummy bear endorsements. Hanks wrote, “This is fake and a deliberate fraud.” “Never have I said this, and I would never give such a recommendation. Please, guy! Hanx!”
It’s unclear where the text messages claimed Oz was deceased came from. Who promoted Oz, McGraw, and Gupta’s unofficial celebrity endorsements of Smilz CBD Gummies is also unknown.
To be clear, Oz is not dead; he is still alive. We’ll update this story if we find out more about this scam.
Where is Dr. Oz now?
According to court filings, the fraud occurs when Dr. Oz and his two sisters are engaged in a protracted inheritance dispute.
Dr. Oz and his sister Several accuse their Turkish-based sister Nazlim Oz of forging their father’s will with a false signature in the dispute that spans the US and Turkey.
Suna, their mother, who is a widow, also helps the two.
They assert that throughout the years, Nazlim has stolen millions from their father Mustafa’s estate and concealed the money abroad, including in India, the Cayman Islands, and the Netherlands.
On February 9, 2019, Mustafa Oz, a successful Turkish surgeon and investor, passed away. Nazlim, a resident of Istanbul, countersues that Dr. Oz has been behind in his payments to her for more than three years.
She asserts that the money is what she is due as a portion of Mustafa’s rental revenue from two three-bedroom apartments in New York’s Upper East Side.
Dr. Oz asserted that Nazlim has failed to present a single check, wire transfer record, deposit slip, or bank statement demonstrating that she ever received rental income while their father was still living.
Since 2020, the counterclaim case has been in progress.

The contentious TV personality has drawn criticism for his claims of faith healing and pseudoscience and is currently active in Pennsylvanian politics. He declared his campaign for the Republican nomination for the Pennsylvania Senate seat in 2022 on November 30, 2021.
Final Words
People got a spam message on June 15, 2022, that said, “DR. OZ was found dead,” and then it linked to an online article. But the link goes to a story that has nothing to do with the 62-year-old, and the claim that he died is invalid.
