The COVID crisis and the government’s responses to it have kept Chinese businesspeople preoccupied. For the better part of a week, daily new cases have averaged over 30,000 nationally. Wednesday of last week, the federal government revealed changes that signal a softening of its most stringent control measures.
However, the actual direction in which implementation is heading depends on the circumstances in each province, city, and district. The Hainan Island International Film Festival had to be postponed, and only four days after reopening, Shanghai Disneyland was shut down.
