The first season finale of Fox’s Monarch airs tonight and as the episode draws to a close, we’ll be honest and state that we fully anticipated a cliffhanger. We know that the show hasn’t been picked up for a second season, but this isn’t the kind of show that tries to tie up all the loose ends.
So, we’ll admit that for most of the last episode, we were waiting for something crazy to happen around almost every corner. When did that take place? Well, it happened before we got to the scene with the tour bus at the end. It turns out that Jamie and Catt are working together.

Did you guess that part would happen? The most important thing about this twist is that they can explain it more in a possible second season, which I hope they will. It’s something that would be better with more background information, and it gives the writers a chance to go over everything we’ve seen so far. Some great things can happen when that happens.
We almost thought that by the end of the episode, there would be something like a life-or-death situation, but we also remember that there has already been a major death this season. Obviously, the writers don’t just want to do the same thing every week.

Wouldn’t it be nice to get a second season after this last episode? Yes, but Fox has never said that this is the last episode of the show. As long as that keeps happening, there is reason to be hopeful about the future, and we’ll keep crossing our fingers here for whatever could happen next.
