Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso have been married for nearly two decades and have developed a family together. In 2003, they met at the bar where Barroso was employed, and their chemistry was immediate.
After dating for two years, the two finally sealed the wedding and went on to have three daughters: Isabella, Gia, and Stella. Also, Damon took on the role of stepfather to Alexia, Barroso’s daughter.
Despite Damon’s celebrity status, he and his partner keep their personal lives under wraps. In particular, Barroso prefers to stay out of the spotlight. She’s From Argentina
Barroso was reportedly born in Argentina and is proficient in Spanish, but little else about her life before to meeting Damon is known.
She Met Damon While Bartending
Their initial encounter had all the makings of a romantic comedy. They first met in Miami in 2003 while Damon was filming Stuck on You, he said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. To paraphrase, “I saw her across a busy room, literally,” he said.
“That’s how my life has been for the past eight years, with four kids thrown in there for good measure. She recounted, “We definitely made a connection straight away, it was so simple to chat to each other, we were extremely comfortable [with each other], and by the end of the night, he invited me to go out with his buddies.”

It took Damon and Barroso two years of courting before they finally got married in December 2005. Although Barroso had been married before, to Alexia’s biological father, this was Damon’s first marriage.
Damon thought on marriage and revealed the key to their long-lasting love as they approached their tenth anniversary. He said, “I’m lucky I found my wife,” on Entertainment Tonight. If there were a secret, feeling lucky would be it, I suppose.
As he continued, “Marriage is completely bonkers, in my opinion. Being married to my wife is the craziest concept ever, but I couldn’t be happier. As a result, I wouldn’t spill the beans to anyone else about their romance.”
She’s Friends With Chris Hemsworth’s Wife
While Barroso prefers to remain in the background, she does have some high-profile pals. Barroso and Damon have a number of famous friends, including Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky.
Pataky revealed to PEOPLE that the two couples regularly travel together after meeting through common acquaintances. Chris and I are both great fans of Matt Damon, and after meeting his wife, I became even more of a fan of his.

Her and Damon’s Wedding Rings Have a Very Special Meaning
In an interview with Parade in 2017, Damon said that the wedding rings he and Barrasso exchanged were an ode to his grandparents. He detailed how his grandmother’s ring, set with “small, tiny little diamonds,” had been passed down to him and his mother.
The actor explained that the diamonds were not high grade because they were all that Damon’s grandfather could buy. “The marriage, though, endured. They had been married for almost 60 years. The engagement ring wasn’t the focus, the marriage was.
My mother gave me the ring with the six diamonds when I told her that I was going to marry Lucy. Damon got a tattoo of Barroso’s nickname “Lucy” (on his upper right arm) in 2013 after being persuaded to do so by Barroso. She made the announcement yesterday,” he recounted in a 2021 interview with GQ. “She said it when we were at our Manhattan apartment: “We’re getting tattoos.” And I said, “Okay.”
Damon stated that his friend and tattoo artist Scott Campbell was to do his ink because Campbell had previously done all of Heath Ledger’s tattoos. He shared with Campbell, “I told him if I ever got a tattoo, he was my first phone contact.”
Damon got a tattoo of “Lucy” and a tattoo that Ledger had designed shortly before his death in 2008 on his arm. Damon revealed the meaning of the abstract tattoo on his right arm by pointing to it “Heath was a really active, imaginative person.

Despite being married to one of Hollywood’s top names, Barroso prefers to stay out of the spotlight. She avoids discussing her partner in public and doesn’t use any social media.
Damon appreciates his non-industry wife, and vice versa. Damon told Esquire in an interview, “Lucky me. My heart was broken by a commoner. Neither an actress nor a very well-known one. Because in that case the interest doesn’t just double, it explodes.”
The couple seemed to be making an effort to keep things as routine as possible. “[Paparazzi] can attempt to stake me out, but they’re always going to get the same story: middle-aged married guy with four kids,” Damon stated in the same interview.
