Jinni has departed JYP Entertainment, where NMIXX has been signed, and the group will move forward with the other six members. Soompi reports that Jinni’s departure from the rookie girl group was confirmed by a statement released by JYP on Friday, December 9.
Jinni cited “personal circumstances” as the reason for her departure. NMIXX would continue as a six-member unit moving forward, and “her exclusive contract has been dissolved,” it said.
Lily, Sullyoon, Haewon, Jiwoo, Kyujin, and BAE round out the rest of NMIXX. Before she left, Jinni was considered the group’s focal point, or its “core.” The message apologized for “this abrupt news” causing any fans undue stress and requested them to support Jinni in her new endeavors and the six members of NMIXX.

As of January, JYP has already debuted NMIXX. In February of this year, the band released its debut single album, titled “Ad Mare,” which featured the song “O.O.” as the album’s lead single. This song would eventually rank number 35 on Spotify’s list of the most globally streamed K-pop songs of 2022.

Within a few short months of their debut, the group was performing overseas as part of the lineup for KCON 2022’s Premiere In Chicago. Both the holiday single “Funky Glitter Christmas” and the single album “Entwurf,” which featured the song “Dice,” were released after their initial reappearance in September. In 2022, they also appeared in the MAMA Awards.
