It was an impossible mission in and of itself to wait three years for Jack Ryan Season 3. A third season of the spy thriller series has been in the works since the 2019 premiere of the second. We now know when to expect the series premiere: this coming winter. Furthermore, many new details about the upcoming season of the Prime Video original series have been revealed.
But we’ll get to that in a second. In Season 3 of Jack Ryan, the former CIA analyst-turned-spy embarks on another mission fraught with danger and high drama. Ryan’s dangerous experiences in Venezuela came to an end at the end of the second season, with him narrowly escaping certain disasters on multiple occasions.
The third season will provide these answers and more. Plus, there’s always season four to anticipate if you don’t like it. That’s right; it’s happening. The final season, number four, is expected to premiere sometime in 2019.
The political action thriller, starring John Krasinski as the title character, was developed by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland and is based on the novels in Tom Clancy’s eponymous series. Given his success with The Quiet Place and its sequel, both of which he wrote and directed, it’s no surprise that Krasinski is not only a director on the show but also one of its executive producers.

If you’re a fan of the show, you’re probably counting down the days until December, when the highly anticipated third season of Jack Ryan premieres. Here’s everything we know about Jack Ryan Season 3 so far, including when it will be released, what it will be about, who will be in it, and who will be in the cast.

Watch the Jack Ryan Season 3 Trailer
Season 3 of Jack Ryan has a brand new trailer, and it would be an understatement to call it excellent simply for what it is. The story is constantly surprising and exciting. The trailer depicts the CIA agent’s precarious position in light of the series’ premise: on the one hand, his agency has labeled him a fugitive, and on the other, his enemies are closing in.
After uncovering a major international criminal organization and attempting to avert a nuclear war, Jack is driven to become a fugitive and take matters into his own hands. But as the clip shows, Jack is backed by more than just himself; his boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce), and Mike November (Michael Kelly) are also fans.
Fan anticipation for Jack’s mission in the new season is warranted, what with deadly Russian assassins hot on his trail and the CIA leaving him high and dry in the field. The trailer suggests that this season’s production values are also higher, with more high-octane actions, more firepower, and car chases across exotic European locations. Watch the trailer up top and get ready for a thrilling ride with the CIA’s golden boy that could go very wrong!
How Many Episodes Will Jack Ryan Season 3 Have?
Season 3 of Jack Ryan will consist of eight episodes, and each episode will run about 50 minutes. As with the first two seasons, the third could have eight episodes. When the new season premieres on December 21, all eight episodes will be available to watch simultaneously on Amazon Prime Video.
Who’s In the Jack Ryan Season 3 Cast?
The show’s stellar ensemble cast includes many well-known actors and actresses. Multiple stars were featured in the first two seasons, and it looks like the third season will be no different. Jack Ryan Season 3 will feature the return of several major characters, despite the fact that many familiar faces from the first two seasons will not be making an appearance.
Krasinski, who has a Ph.D. in Economics and is a Marine veteran and CIA financial analyst, plays Jack Ryan once again. Working his way up from the ranks of the T-FAD (Terror Finance and Arms Division), he is now the division head on Capitol Hill.
It is widely assumed that Harrison Ford‘s portrayal of Jack Ryan in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger served as an inspiration for the series’ portrayal of Ryan. Additionally, original cast members Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are reprising their roles.
Mark Pierce plays Ryan’s superior and field partner at the CIA, James Greer. Since our last encounter, Greer’s heart condition has worsened, and he has decided to end his fieldwork. Kelly will return to his role as CIA station chief Mike November, who helped Ryan and Greer escape a major riot on their previous mission.
For season three, we also welcome James Cosmo, Peter Guinness, Nina Hoss, and Alexei Mavelov to the cast. Casting note: Cosmo plays Luca, Guinness plays Petr, Hoss plays Alena, and Mavelov plays Alexei.
Betty Gabriel has been cast to take over the role of Chief of Station Elizabeth Wright previously portrayed by Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Domingo “Ding” Chavez, an officer of the Rainbow Six counterterrorism unit and a recurring character in the novels, will be played by Michael Pea in a guest role.

The rumor mill has it that Krasinski’s Ryan will make a cameo or special appearance in an upcoming spin-off starring Chavez. In other words, it’s safe to assume that Jack Ryan’s departure isn’t in the cards anytime soon.
When and Where Was Jack Ryan Season 3 Filmed?
Considering how long it has taken, you might assume that production issues caused the delay. Filming for Jack Ryan Season 3 began in May of 2021 at multiple international locations, one of which was Prague.
The international scope of Ryan’s missions suggests that Season 3 will feature some similarly stunning settings. Not only that, but also. Production on the upcoming fourth season began in Croatia in February of 2022.
