The 30-year-old Korean artist Jin is no stranger to making a splash as a member of the popular K-pop group BTS, but right now, the buzz is all about his buzz cut. Before his enlistment on Tuesday, BTS’s oldest member shared a photo of himself sporting his new military haircut.
On Sunday’s Weverse online fan forum, the K-pop artist posted pictures of himself sporting an incredibly short haircut and donning a black T-shirt.
“Ha ha ha. It’s cuter than I thought,” its caption reads. His fans reacted warmly to Jin’s new look, playfully referencing his nickname “worldwide handsome.” One fan on Twitter wrote: “Wow, you look super good, Jin. You’re still the most handsome in the world.”
One user on Jin’s Weverse online fan community wished him “nothing but healthiness and well-being.” “Please be happy and safe. We will miss you deeply, Kim Seok-jin, but we will stay here waiting for you forever. Please don’t forget we love you.”
Before beginning a five-week introductory training course at the beginning of their service, every new military recruit must get his hair chopped short. All physically capable men must serve in the military for at least 18 months in South Korea. Check out some related articles here:

Jin, real name Kim Seok-jin, is the first member of the group to complete his required military service. The group’s other six members, RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, are also needed to serve in the military. The band’s management company, Big Hit Music, expressed hope for a 2025 comeback.
The last time BTS performed as a group was in the middle of October during a show in Busan, South Korea. However, Jin’s final concert was with the British band Coldplay in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a few weeks later.
Jin made his solo debut with the song “Astronaut” at that performance. Coldplay and Jin collaborated on the song’s composition. Chris Martin, the lead singer for Coldplay, and Jin hugged during the performance as a symbol of their genuine relationship.
According to the Yonhap news agency, Jin has been training since that concert for military life, which will start on Tuesday when he reports booting camp for a front-line Army division in Yeoncheon, 60 kilometers north of Seoul. After basic training, he will be assigned to an undetermined local military unit.
Big Hit has released an additional official statement stating @BTS_twt Jin will soon enlist in the military as an active-duty soldier. He will enter the grounds while in a vehicle & the agency asks again that media and fans refrain from visiting the site.https://t.co/fKeM99Gx4B pic.twitter.com/LQLS3WkgUe

Along with roughly 200 other brand-new recruits, Jin will report to the 5th Infantry Division’s Key Recruit Training Center in Yeoncheon.
The military instruction program teaches students how to march and salute, follow military protocol, handle and shoot firearms, throw grenades, and participate in combat.
According to a statement from Big Hit Music, there would be no official event on Tuesday, the day of Jin’s enlistment. Additionally, Jin’s management company urged supporters to send supportive messages to the musician while he “finishes his military service and comes back” rather than visiting the military installation.
According to news sources, 270 riot police and 60 government workers have been mobilized by police and municipal authorities to take extra precautions against crowd-related incidents.
It will be challenging for the crowds of admirers and reporters waiting outside to get a look at Jin because most of the recruits, including him, are anticipated to approach the military grounds by cars through the gate.
According to news reports, there will be a prohibition on food trucks and street vendors close to the training center’s entrance and emergency responders waiting outside.
