Going into this season, we honestly believed that Coolidge would remain the constant for a considerable amount of time. Actually, the opposite was true. After shooting at Quentin and his associates, Tanya ultimately committed herself to drown. Ironically, it was never made crystal clear what Quentin’s actual purpose was in regard to the character, or if he was doing anything on behalf of Greg.
The truth is, none of that is relevant, and season 3 will be a whole different experience. Tanya’s body was in plain sight. No longer exists. This is going to take some time to digest, but we can see why inventor Mike White made this decision: He anticipated our collective assumption.
As a result of his admiration for Coolidge, he may easily assume that he would remain in office indefinitely. It would have been simple to suppose that Harper, Cameron, and Ethan met their end, or that Albie, Dominic, and Bert passed away. Those were the obvious assumptions, yet he managed to come up with a new approach.
Tanya, even if she is killed off, will always be remembered as an intriguing addition to the show. Too many bad things happened to her to ever be a sympathetic figure, yet there haven’t been many people like her in television shows. The world around her passed her by unnoticed, and she didn’t even seem to notice herself at times.
Remember how it looked like this whole show was going to be a one-off at the beginning? Well, now we’re just thankful we got to see this character for two seasons at all. We’re pleased that turned out to not be the case!

The waters start to split the instant you have a lot going on. Really, who can say? You can do everything you set your mind to. Something like “White Lotus” can shake up the way you’re used to thinking, leading to more expansive ideas.

Last Lines
We entered this season with the sincere hope that Coolidge will continue to serve as the one constant for quite some time. The inverse was true, to be exact. After Tanya had shot at Quentin and his friends, she decided to end her life by drowning.
