Gold Rush is a reality show that airs all over the world on Discovery and its affiliates. The series shows how different family-run mining companies try to find placer gold, mostly in the Klondike region of Dawson City, Yukon, Canada and in the U.S. state of Alaska.
As of early 2021, the show is in its 12th season. In previous seasons, miners worked in South America and western North America. Season one of the show, titled Gold Rush: Alaska featured six guys from Sandy, Oregon, a small town located about 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Portland.
The 12th season of Gold Rush started airing on Discovery Channel on September 24, 2021, with Ground War. It was mostly about the mining crews of Parker Schnabel, Tony Beets, Rick Ness and Fred Lewis.
