During its run on Disney+, The Bad Batch will take Star Wars in a new direction, making history in the process. Due to an unexpected post on the main Disney+ website, fans were able to see the first trailer for Season 2 of The Bad Batch.
It showed what Hunter, Wrecker, Omega, and the rest of the team will have to face across the galaxy. Even some classic Star Wars clones will be in this season, like Commander Cody from the original trilogy and Captain Rex from The Clone Wars. This will touch on a lot of 21st-century Star Wars storylines.
Soon after the new year starts, the show will be available on Disney+. The first two episodes will be available on the streaming service on January 4. But while a two-episode premiere is not unusual in Disney’s streaming era, later episodes of The Bad Batch will also go in a different direction.

Double Finale for The Bad Batch
The official press release for Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 says that the season will end on March 29 with the release of both Episode 15 and Episode 16. This is the first time that a Disney+ show has put out two episodes in the last week of its season.
I blasted through 14 episodes of The Bad Batch season 2 last week, and it was amazing – it captures the coolest elements of S1. Some pivotal moments in the Star Wars timeline, excellent Clone Wars callbacks and Crosshair’s storyline is incredible. #TheBadBatch

In addition to the double-season opener and the double-season finale, Episodes 7 and 8 of the mid-season finale, which will air on February 8, will be the third time that two episodes will air at the same time.
- Jan. 4 — Episode 201 “Spoils of War” & Episode 202 “Ruins of War”
- Feb. 8 — Episode 207 “The Clone Conspiracy” & Episode 208 “Truth and Consequences”
- March 29 — Episode 215 “The Summit” & Episode 216 “Plan 99″
Big Events for the Season 2 Premieres of Bad Batch?
Fans have seen a lot of shows end with two episodes on the same night if you look at the history of all TV shows as a whole. For example, ABC’s Agents of SHIELD used this technique four times in the last ten years, in Seasons 2 and 3, Seasons 6 and 7, and Seasons 6 and 7.
The most important thing to take away from this is that the last two episodes of Season 2 of The Bad Batch are going to be about something big, while Season 2 as a whole will be shorter on Disney+.
I’ve seen the first four episodes of The Bad Batch season 2 and boy, does it feel bad to be back with Clone Force 99! The story so far is dark and suspenseful, with a filler episode thrown in, too. I have up to episode 14 and can’t wait to keep watching! It’s GOOD!#TheBadBatch pic.twitter.com/2cVJWu06wj

Since only one trailer has been released so far, the episode titles don’t say much about the actual story. However, “Plan 99” should hint at something pretty personal for Clone Force 99.
All that is clear is that Lucasfilm has big plans for the next set of episodes of The Bad Batch, which should make the three weeks of double episode premieres into big events. The second season of The Bad Batch will start on Disney+ on January 4, 2023 with two episodes.
