Andre Hicks, 34, also known as Mac Dre, was shot and killed around 3:30 a.m. on Monday when another car drew up next to the van he was in and started firing, according to the police.
The van veered across the southbound lanes, the highway median, and a steep embankment. Hicks was shot while being thrown from the truck, according to the police. The motorist emerged from the rubble on all fours and ran for assistance.

According to Capt. Vince Cannon, police were attempting to ascertain a motive. According to Cannon, witnesses did not hear Hicks arguing with anyone, and police do not think that road rage was a factor in the shooting.
