Kim Kardashian, a reality star, claimed she used to cry alone at home when reading mocking stories about her pregnant figure. After being severely body-shamed, Kim Kardashian acknowledged that she “hated” being pregnant with her daughter North.
The 40-year-old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star gave birth to her first child with her ex-husband Kanye West in June 2013.
However, Kim admitted in an interview for the podcast. We Are Supported By, hosted by actress Kristen Bell that her first pregnancy wasn’t fun and that she detested being pregnant since it “destroyed” her self-esteem.
“I was not a good pregnant person. I was not a cute pregnant person. I did not like it. I hated it. I hated how I felt. I hate how I looked,” Kim told Kristen and co-host Monica Padman.
The KKW Beauty mogul, who is also the mother of three children—Son Saint, age five, Daughter Chicago, age three, and Son Psalm, age two—honestly admitted to being envious of her mother, Kris Jenner and older sister Kourtney Kardashian, whom she said had made childbirth appear simple.
“I was so used to seeing my mom pregnant, my sister pregnant and everyone looking so cute and having these easy deliveries and life was great and they snapped right back,” she explained. “That wasn’t me,” Kim added.
She also discussed the constant media coverage of her pregnancy and thought that the intense scrutiny of her changing body would be frowned upon now.
“It was crazy. I don’t think it would fly today, but it killed my self-esteem. I can’t believe that this was acceptable and that this was okay,” she shared.

Kim acknowledged that the constant criticism of her pregnancy figure went too far and significantly impacted her mental health.
“I would sit at home and cry all the time,” she sadly recalled.
With North and again with son Saint, Kim experienced preeclampsia, which had symptoms like bloating and edema, high blood pressure, and headaches.
If a midwife or doctor does not adequately monitor the condition, it has the potential to be lethal and cause problems.
Due to Kim’s preeclampsia diagnosis, North was delivered six weeks early, and she later experienced placenta accreta, a dangerous condition in which the placenta clings to the uterine wall.
“I had this condition called preeclampsia and I didn’t know that I had it. It’s over-swelling in your feet and face. I had to deliver six weeks early with an emergency delivery and then I had another condition called placenta accrete with both of my babies. It was insane,” she said.
Doctors recommended the reality star against becoming pregnant again since it could result in significant health issues for both her and the unborn child. Hence, Kim and Kanye employed a surrogate to carry Chicago and Psalm.

In other parts of the interview, she described having abysmal self-esteem while attempting to regain her pre-pregnancy figure after giving birth to North. She also disclosed that she would sneak to her mother’s garage to work out.
“We didn’t have a gym or anything and I was too embarrassed to go to a gym because I didn’t want people to look at me trying to lose weight.”
“I gained 70 pounds. I would sit in my mom’s garage and it was probably 115 degrees in Calabasas in the summertime. I’d have my daughter in a stroller and I’d sit her in there and I would work out in the garage and try to do anything I could until I did it,” Kim continued.
“It changed me as a person,” she added.
