Detectives working on the case of a grandmother’s murder have published a new photo of the person they believe to be responsible. Following the discovery of Michelle Hanson’s death on December 3 at a property on Brady Street in Sunderland, police began searching for 47-year-old Alexander Carr.
According to prior statements made by law enforcement, the 32-year-old is “actively fleeing arrest.” They’ve just issued a new photo of Carr, who hails from Sunderland but has been spotted in both Newcastle and North Tyneside.
Additionally, he has ties to parts of Northumberland and London. The Northumbria Police have issued a call for information on where Carr may be, and Crimestoppers has offered a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to his capture.
The public is urged not to approach him but to instead call emergency services at the number 999. As the investigation’s head, Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Barr, stated: “Michelle‘s family is at the forefront of our minds as we move forward, and rest assured that our specially trained officers will be there to lend support at this difficult time.

We are dedicated to learning what happened and holding those responsible accountable in order to provide answers for her family. The Hanson family released a video statement Thursday asking for the public’s assistance in bringing justice to their mother’s case.
Shannon Brown, whose age is cited as 29, was quoted as saying: “It breaks our hearts as a family to think we’ll never see her again. “My mother was an exceptionally warm and compassionate person. She was the kind of person who would forgive anyone who wronged her because she could only ever see the good in them.”
Ms. Brown appealed to the public, saying, “Please, if you have any information which will aid the police with their investigation, don’t hesitate to get in touch with them.” Northumbria Police said in a tweet earlier this month that Carr “considers himself competent to survive outdoors.”
Someone mentioned that he might be hiding in abandoned structures or shanties. Footage of Carr boarding a bus the day following Ms. Hanson‘s death was taken on CCTV and released before.
