The Los Angeles County District Attorney told sources that a jury found rapper and singer Tory Lanez guilty of three charges related to the shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the Hollywood Hills in July 2020.
Prosecutors say that Lanez pleaded not guilty to three charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and firing a gun with gross negligence.
On all three counts, the jury found him guilty. Megan said that Lanez shot her in the foot after she got out of the car they were in after an argument.
During the trial, Megan said that she, Lanez and Kelsey Harris, who used to be her friend and assistant were all upset in the car. This is what Billboard Magazine says.

The artist said that Lanez told her he wanted her to tell Harris that the two of them had slept together. But Megan didn’t want to do that, Billboard says because she knew Harris liked the Canadian singer and rapper.
Megan said that Lanez shot her after she got out of the car. “I started walking away and I hear Tory yell, ‘Dance, b***h,” she tearfully testified, according to Billboard. “I froze. I just felt shock. I felt hurt. I looked down at my feet and I see all of this blood.”
LA County DA George Gascón said in a statement to CNN after the verdict that Megan “showed a lot of courage and vulnerability” during her testimony, even though she was being attacked over and over again in horrible ways.

“You faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the nation,” he said, in reference to Megan.
“Women, especially Black women, are afraid to report crimes like assault and s*xual violence because they are too often not believed. This trial, for the second time this month, highlighted the numerous ways that our society must do better for women,” Gascón added, referring to Harvey Weinstein being found guilty of three out of seven charges on Monday.
He also thanked the jurors for “their time and thoughtful deliberation.” During the nine-day trial, Lanez did not take the stand to defend himself.

The jury, which was made up of five men and seven women started thinking about the case on Thursday. They came to a decision on Friday afternoon. Lanez was taken out of the courtroom by bailiffs who had him in handcuffs.
