Before Princess Diana, Who Was Dodi Fayed Romancing With… Everything About Kelly Fisher?

Dodi dated American model Kelly Fisher before meeting Diana. When Dodi Fayed and Princess Diana died in 1997, they were one of the most famous couples in the world, but the People’s Princess wasn’t the only person Dodi loved.

Dodi was with American-born model Kelly Fisher before he started dating Diana. In season 5 of The Crown, Erin Richards plays Kelly. In the Netflix show, she has a relationship with Dodi, which makes his father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, very unhappy. Most people didn’t know about Kelly and Dodi’s relationship until after it was over, mostly because it ended in a fight.

Who was the woman who briefly won Dodi’s heart before he started dating the then-Princess of Wales? Here is everything you need to know about Kelly Fisher and Dodi Fayed.

Kelly Fisher did well as a model

Kelly was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She told Aiken Woman that she and her family lived there for a few years before moving to Toronto for her father’s job.

She was found as a teenager in Toronto, and she started modelling during school breaks. Kelly went to college for two semesters after high school, but then she dropped out to focus on modelling full-time.

Her best modelling jobs were for Armani, La Perla, and Victoria’s Secret, and she was also on the cover of Marie Claire.

Kelly Fisher said she and Dodi Fayed were engaged while he dated Diana

Kelly met Dodi Fayed in Paris in July 1996, and they started dating quickly. Kelly later said that Dodi started dating Princess Diana just as quickly, and she said that her relationship with Dodi and his relationship with Diana happened at the same time in a big way.

Vanity Fair said that Kelly would wait for Dodi on one of Dodi’s yachts while he was on another yacht having fun with the Princess of Wales.

Kelly reportedly didn’t know that Dodi was actually having an affair with Diana until The Sunday Mirror published photos of the two kissings.

Kelly and Dodi were supposed to get married on August 9, 1997, Kelly’s lawyer said. Dodi gave Kelly a big sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

Dodi Fayed’s family denied they were engaged

Mohamed Al-Fayed, Dodi’s father, called Kelly a “hooker” and a “gold digger,” according to Vanity Fair. A representative for Dodi’s family told The Irish Times that he had never asked Kelly to marry him, but that he did know her.

Kelly’s mother, Judith Dunaway, stood up for the model and said that Dodi asked for permission to marry Kelly in November 1996, when the two were at Kelly’s sister’s wedding.

Dunaway told the press (The Los Angeles Times), “No one’s daughter deserves to be treated like my daughter was. Kelly loved him, trusted him and has been treated very cruelly by him. Dodi Fayed should be ashamed.”

Kelly Fisher sued Dodi Fayed because he broke up with her and started dating Princess Diana.

A few days after photos of Dodi and Diana were published in The Sunday Mirror, Kelly hired Gloria Allred as her lawyer and sued Dodi for breach of contract. She said that Dodi’s leaving her for Princess Diana was against their marriage contract.

Kelly said in her lawsuit that Dodi offered her $500,000 to quit modelling and spend more time with him, but he only gave her $60,000 and a check for $200,000 that bounced. Kelly’s lawsuit asked for the remaining $440,000, plus damages.

During an August 1997 press conference, a tearful Kelly looked on as Allred told reporters, “Mr. Fayed needs to take responsibility for the woman that he ‘left at the altar’ and treated with such total disrespect. He threw her love away in a callous way with no regard for her whatsoever.”

Kelly asked Princess Diana to meet with her after the press conference so they could talk about their relationship with Dodi. The Princess of Wales never took up the offer. At the time, a rep for the Fayed family told The Associated Press (via The Los Angeles Times), “We are content to leave it to the good sense of the British and American people to judge this development for what it is.”

Kelly Fisher dismissed the claim after Dodi Fayed’s death.

When Dodi and Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris after being chased by paparazzi, just a few days after Kelly said she was suing Dodi, she and Allred dropped the lawsuit.

Allred said in a statement at the time, “Out of respect for the tragedy, and tremendous loss the Fayed family has suffered, she has authorised me as her attorney, to dismiss her lawsuit against Mr Fayed. Although she does have the legal right to pursue the lawsuit against his estate after his death, she has voluntarily chosen not to exercise that right.”

She continued in part, “Kelly loved Dodi very much, and she is devastated by his loss, and that of Princess Diana. Nothing is more important than the life of a human being. In the light of this enormous tragedy, Kelly forgives Dodi for all of his past injustices against her.”

Kelly Fisher missed Dodi Fayed’s funeral

On September 1, 1997, Dodi’s funeral was held. Kelly did not go. Allred told the media that Kelly wanted to go to her ex’s funeral, but that it “happened so fast” that Kelly couldn’t fly to London in time.

Dodi Fayed and Kelly Fisher’s phone calls were released after he died

Kelly took part in the investigation into Princess Diana’s death, and in 2008, transcripts of their heated phone calls with Dodi were made public.

In the conversations, she says that Dodi cheated on her and Princess Diana, saying, “You even flew me down to St. Tropez to sit on a boat while you seduced Diana all day and f—ed me all night.” She also told Dodi in one call, “You are f—crazy. We were together the whole time. And you knew it.”

According to the transcripts, Dodi kept trying to end the conversation. He called Kelly “hysterical,” said they were over when he was with Diana, and accused her of wrecking his $50,000 car, which she denied.

Kelly Fisher’s husband is a pilot.

Kelly met pilot Mikhail Movshina in the Central African Republic in 2007 while they were both on safari. She told Aiken Woman in 2014, “He was working with the government to stop the Sudanese poachers from slaughtering the elephants for their tusks.”

Movshina and Kelly lived together in Paris and then in the Swiss Alps after his job in Africa ended. When she found out she was pregnant in 2010, she and Movshina moved to Aiken, South Carolina, so that she could be closer to her family.

She and Movshina still live in Aiken, along with their daughter Alexandra, who was born in 2011… Follow us only on Lee Daily for more news like this.
