Prosecutors in Mercer County claim that a toxic mixture of the antidepressants bupropion, escitalopram, and hydroxyzine is frequently used to treat allergy-related itching and may also be used for anxiety and related conditions, was the cause of Ewuentie’s demise.

The young woman’s death was declared a suicide by the medical examiner’s office. She was the valedictorian of her high school class and was receiving a full scholarship to Princeton.

When Ewunetie’s relatives became concerned since she wasn’t replying to messages, the search for her started in earnest. They reported her missing to campus authorities two days after she had last been seen in the vicinity of her residence hall.

When she vanished, her brother spoke of a “gut-wrenching feeling of being gone.” At the time, her brother, Universe Ewunetie, described her as having a wonderful soul and the kindest person he had ever met. She’s the last person I’d anticipate going missing.
