A New Gameplay Trailer for Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl Has a Big Return

The developer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, G.S.C. Game World, unveiled the game’s first trailer in six months. It features gameplay with a few narrative flourishes around the edges.

The latest video, provided by I.G.N., demonstrates how fantastic S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 looks. The story-driven shooter is set in a post-apocalyptic world filled with terrifying mutated beasts in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. Players must battle to the zone’s center while controlling the non-linear story through gameplay choices.

After years of start-and-stop announcements, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will finally be officially announced in 2020. After unveiling and swiftly abandoning NFT plans in December 2021 owing to adverse fan reaction, the project was abruptly put on hold in February due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, where G.S.C. is situated.

Many employees were compelled to abandon their houses in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital. Some designers choose to protect the city. Vladimir “Fresh” Yezhov, a designer for G.S.C. who volunteered to fight, recently lost his life in battle.

The mind-controlled Monolith faction is introduced in the trailer’s opening scene, which may likely take place during the incident leading to The Zone. Other sequences feature Zone exploration, with narration provided by different people, including firing bolts into anomalies and using anomaly detectors. The speech concludes with an address by a blind man who seems to be a religious zealot.

“You cannot kill God, just like you cannot get rid of the sky above,” a narrator says.

The first lines we get, however, drive right into the mysterious experiments in The Zone, where the original Stalker trilogy was set. “After years of work, a group of scientists managed to tap into the Noosphere – the Earth’s informational field,” it says.

The idea of a psychic field that contains people’s and other living things’ higher thoughts—their capacity for reasoning—is known as the mythical, pseudoscientific Noosphere. The catastrophe that resulted in the Second Exclusion Zone in Chornobyl, where the first games were set, was brought on by careless experiments on the Noosphere.

This is the first brand-new trailer we’ve seen in a while and it already appears to reveal significant portions of the tale. We have a lot of knowledge of Stalker 2; you can find our understanding of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl here.

In any case, the most excellent Stalker 2 news so far this year has been the postponement of the release date till 2023. Russia is currently attacking Ukraine, where game developer G.S.C. Game World is situated. Since moving some operations to Prague, Czechia, the studio claims there won’t be any further delays.

But the battle will unavoidably impact the creators of G.S.C. personally. Volodymyr Yezhov, a former G.S.C. developer who worked on Stalker: Clear Sky, died in combat just last week, as confirmed by the Stalker Twitter account. He was laid to rest on December 27, according to Sky News.
