Things have gotten off to a rough start in 2022, what with the tragic passing of legendary actress Betty White just weeks before her 100th birthday and Joe Gatto’s departure from the comedy show Impractical Jokers. Things got even worse which is unfortunate.
Fans of comedian Joe Gatto were left inconsolable by the news that he and his wife Bessy were splitting up just as the clock struck midnight on December 31. Joe surprised his followers on Instagram on New Year’s Eve with a somber post about his career and personal life.
Joe wrote, “I just wanted to let you all know that I will no longer be involved with Impractical Jokers.” “With the help of my friends, I’ve spent the last decade of my life developing this brand, and I’m incredibly pleased with the results.”
When he continued, “However, I must withdraw at present because of problems in my private life. Our divorce from Bessy was amicable and I’m committed to doing my best as a father and co-parent to our two wonderful children.”
Joe threw two curveballs at Impractical Jokers viewers. We all know that Joe has serious personal issues (likely the breakup) that have forced him to leave the popular comedy group but what exactly is the cause of the divorce between Joe and Bessy?
Why Are Joe Gatto And Bessy Divorce?
Joe and Bessy Gatto, who appeared to have had a perfect and happy marriage for eight years have decided to divorce after all. While fans have yet to learn the specifics of what led to the couple’s divorce, likely, incompatibility, drifting apart, a lack of communication, or family conflicts played a role.
Bessy also made a public announcement on Instagram on December 31, 2021, just like Joe did. Bessy wrote in the photo caption, “Me and Joe, back when we were young and carefree.”
“We both respect each other and our decision to part ways but we love each other very much. Even though we’re no longer a couple, we’re excited to continue being a family to our lovely children as co-parents.”
Additionally, she said “As we begin this next phase of our lives together, we kindly request that you give us some space. And since rescuing dogs and other animals is a shared interest of ours, we won’t stop doing that, either!”

With Joe’s Departure, Will ‘Impractical Jokers’ Disband?
Even though Brian “Q” Quinn, Sal Vulcano and James “Murr” Murray feel the Impractical Jokers will never be the same without Joe Gatto, they intend to keep filming for TruTV. After Joe and Bessy released their statements, Q commented on Joe’s departure on Instagram.
Q wrote that the cast of Impractical Jokers “never imagined making the show without Joe after all these years together.”
“While we’re sad to see him go, we’re committed to carrying on the legacy of the Impractical Jokers and working with the family we’ve come to call our fellow cast members. With the help of our loyal audience, we plan to begin production on a brand new episode of Impractical Jokers in the new year.”
