Earl Boen Dies at 81: What Caused the Terminator Actor’s Death?

Earl Boen died on Thursday in Hawaii. He was a character actor and voice actor who was best known for playing Dr. Peter Silberman in “The Terminator” movies. He was 81.

In the fall of 2022, the actor was told by a friend and his family that he had stage four lung cancer. Boen played Dr. Silberman, a criminal psychologist, in “The Terminator,” “Terminator 2: Judgement Day,” and “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.”

In the first movie, Kyle Reese, played by Michael Biehn, was brought in to be questioned by Silberman. In the 2019 movie “Terminator: Dark Fate,” he also showed up in old footage. Boen was born on August 8, 1941, and he has worked on a lot of TV shows, movies, and video games over the course of his career.

In addition to the “Terminator” franchise, his film credits include “9 to 5,” “Living in Peril,” “The Prince,” “Sioux City,” “Marked for Death,” “My Stepmother Is an Alien,” “Alien Nation,” “Touch and Go,” “The Main Event,” “Battle Beyond the Stars,” “To Be or Not to Be,” “Movers & Shakers,” “Stewardess School” and “Walk Like a Man.”

In the 1980s, Boen played the Reverend Lloyd Meechum on the TV show “Mama’s Family.” He guested on several series, including “Great Performances,” “The Streets of San Francisco,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Wonder Woman,” “Police Woman,” “Barnaby Jones,” “A Man Called Sloane,” “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “Soap,” “King’s Crossing,” “Three’s Company,” “Fantasy Island,” “It’s a Living,” “The Golden Girls,” “The Golden Palace,” “The Wonder Years” and “Seinfeld.”
