Tioni Theus’ Family Seeks Justice a Year After Her Death on 110 Fwy

One year after the young girl was shot to death and abandoned on the side of a motorway in South Los Angeles, her family is pleading with the public’s assistance in identifying the killer.

Tioni Theus’s family is requesting more excellent state and federal funds to assist in solving cold cases in South Los Angeles. Tioni is 16 years old. On January 8, 2022, a body was found on the road near the South Figueroa Street on-ramp for Manchester Avenue.

According to authorities, she told a family member she would meet a friend to attend a party the day before she was last seen.

Shortly after her death, the county Board of Supervisors upped the reward it was offering for information that would result in the capture and conviction of the offender. The current payout is $120,000.

Tioni attended Centennial High School and resided in Compton, according to L.A. County officials.

Her mother was supposedly recovering from a terrible hit-and-run accident while residing with her father. She was a straight-A student, loved dance, and played golf, according to family members.

One year after the end of their daughter, the family of a teen girl who was shot and abandoned on the side of a motorway in South Los Angeles is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the perpetrator.

The family of Tioni Theus, who was murdered when she was 16 years old, is advocating for increased state and federal money to investigate cold cases in South Los Angeles.

“We’re still fighting for Tioni,” said Salana Theus, a cousin of Tioni, during a press conference Saturday. “It’s been a year. Our family is still in distress. This is one thing that I would never put on the worst of the worst of the worst of enemies.”

On January 8, 2022, Tioni’s body was found next to the motorway off-ramp at Manchester Avenue, not far from South Figueroa Street. She told a relative she was going to a party with a friend the day before she was reported missing.

Within a short time of her passing, the county Board of Supervisors upped the prize for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

The current amount of the award is $120.000. According to L.A. County records, Compton resident and Centennial High School student Tioni attended.

After a terrible hit-and-run accident, she stayed with her father while her mom got better. Her relatives say she had straight As and a passion for dancing and golf.
