If you’ve seen Abbott Elementary, you may see why fans are already clamoring for Abbott Elementary Season 2. The program, which centers on Philadelphia’s inner-city teachers and staff, is generous, honest, and belly-laugh-inducingly amusing.
The first episode’s views increased from 2.79 million to 7 million over 35 days on all platforms. The second episode of the program brought ABC its highest ratings since Modern Family’s 2020 season finale.
And who is the show’s creator? Quinta Brunson, a creator, executive producer, writer, and star, has just been included in TIME magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2022, including Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, Oprah Winfrey, and Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple.
“Smart and funny as hell, in that order. She’s a Swiss Army knife that can—and does—do it all,” LeBron James writes about her. “And while she’s doing it, she’s elevating everyone her work touches.”
Along with bringing the performance to success, Brunson and the cast have also given back, assisting teachers and giving a portion of the marketing funds for the production to Philadelphia schools. One of the most endearing aspects of the show is how true to life each character feels, and she keeps the show grounded in reality.
All the people you see there are from a Philadelphia public school, according to Brunson, who spoke with Parade.com earlier this month. Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter), Jacob (Chris Perfetti), Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph), and Gregory (Tyler Christopher) will all appear.

Bummed because when Janine broke up with him, Tariq, played by Zack Fox, hit the road. Will you miss his anti-drug raps and “artistic interludes?” Don’t worry; he may return. “I don’t want to give anything away, but I feel like we will be seeing more of Tariq in the future,” Brunson told Entertainment Weekly in April 2022. “I think they are broken up and things are over, but we’ll still… Let me not say that! Who knows! Who knows! But I don’t think you’ve seen the last of him.”
