Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been wondering who would be the next “big evil” to challenge Earth’s Mightiest Heroes ever since Avengers: Endgame put an end to Thanos and, as a result, the Infinity Saga. Four years later, in the soon-to-be-released Ant-Man and the WASP: Quantumania, Kang the Conqueror poses the greatest threat to humankind since the defeat of the Mad Titan.
But before Jonathan Majors’ mysterious supervillain, one who appears to be around for at least a little while with films like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, comes face-to-face with Paul Rudd’s endearing hero with a knack for shrinking, enlarging, and sleight-of-hand magic tricks, we all probably want to know a little bit about the man, the myth, the Kan.
We have analyzed a number of the character’s facets and the reasons why Kang the Conqueror is considered such a severe threat to Ant-Man and the other Avengers, using the character’s comic book history as a guide.
A Mr. Fantastic and Doctor Doom Child
Nathaniel Richards, a descendant of the Fantastic Four’s commander Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, appeared as one of the main characters in Kang the Conqueror on the pages of Marvel Comics. A Master Of Space And Time
The two Ant-Man and the WASP: Quantumania trailers show Kang the Conqueror in action, and if the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the villain is anything like his comic book counterpart, which appears to be the case, Jonathan Majors’s enigmatic lousy guy will be a master of space and time with the ability to manipulate and bend each to his will.
With his immensely sophisticated technology from the future, Kang has traveled through time throughout his comic book career, occasionally even to alternate timelines. This was hinted at in the first season of “Loki,” as He Who Remains, one of his more wicked forms, established the Time Variance Authority to stop them from ruining the “holy timeline.”
A Masterful And Skilled Military Strategist
Some of the most interesting antagonists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe up until this point had particular abilities. Just take a look at all the memorable villains. Even Thanos, who instantly wiped away half of all life, could only do so after obtaining the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War. Vulture, Mysterio, Baron Zemo, and others lacked superhuman abilities but possessed amazing tech and drive. Till late in Black Panther, even Killmonger lacked superpowers.
The same is true of Kang the Conqueror, who compensates for his lack of unique natural abilities by utilizing cutting-edge technology, weapons, and years and years of military training to achieve his objectives. There are many reasons why Kang is such a fearsome antagonist, including his use of anti-gravity technologies, concussive blasters, and the time-travel above powers.
One Of The Most Complex Enemies Of The Avengers
Kang the Conqueror has long been a primary foe of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but in the coming years, he will become the Avengers’ main antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kang has battled adored figures like Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Thor over the years and other legendary groups like the Fantastic Four, The Inhumans, and the X-Men. Kang isn’t merely evil for being evil, like other noteworthy, three-dimensional villains like Thanos, Baron Zemo, and Killmonger. Still, he has added complexity, nuance, and understanding motivation to each battle.

A Villain With Several Variants
As previously indicated, Kang has undergone numerous changes throughout the character’s history. Fans of the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe have already seen He Who Remains during “Loki” Season 1. The character confesses to Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) in the season finale that he founded the TVA to stop some of his more wicked variations from cooperating and sparking a multiversal conflict. However, that iteration of the character is eliminated in the closing seconds, allowing those enigmatic variations to go as they like.
Immortus, Rama Tut, Iron Lad, Scarlet Centurion, and Victor Timely, among other variations, have all made appearances in comic books in various capacities, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for some of them to receive the big-screen treatment in the future.
This only scratches the surface of the legendary and influential Kang the Conqueror, a foe we’ll get to know all too well when Ant-Man and the WASP: Quantumania premieres in AMC Theatres locations around the country.
