Lisa Marie Presley Cause of Death: Cardiac Arrest at Age 54

The Associated Press was told by Lisa Marie Presley’s mother, Priscilla Presley, that she died at the age of 54. “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla said in a statement Thursday.

“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.” Elvis Presley’s and Priscilla Presley’s beloved daughter was rushed to West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in California on January 12 after she went into cardiac arrest. There, she was given the “best care.”

TMZ reports that EMTs were able to revive the singer-songwriter with CPR prior to transfer. She was put into a medically-induced coma hours later, and her condition was critical.

Sources told Page Six that Lisa Marie had “coded multiple times” after the cardiac arrest and that there didn’t seem to be any drugs at the scene. Insiders also said that the official cause of death will be found out at a later date.

Just a few days earlier, Lisa Marie and her mother went to the 2023 Golden Globes to support Austin Butler, who won the award for best performance in a drama for playing Lisa Marie’s father in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis.”

When Butler, 31, took the stage to accept his award, he said, “Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever,” which made the “Lights Out” singer cry.

Thursday, TMZ said that Lisa Marie had been having stomach pains on the day of the award show. Lisa Marie was born in the year 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was Elvis and Priscilla’s only child.

Lisa Marie loved music, just like her famous father. She put out three albums of her own: “To Whom It May Concern,” which was certified gold in 2003, “Now What,” which came out in 2005, and “Storm & Grace,” which came out in 2012.

Lisa Marie also ran the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation after her father died. She did this to make sure that his legacy of helping others would live on long after he was gone.

The star of the “You Are Not Alone” video was also a mom to four kids, but she lost one of them in a terrible way almost three years ago. Benjamin Keough, her son, shot himself in the head and killed himself in July 2020.

The heartbroken mother said in a statement on what would have been her son’s 28th birthday, “My beautiful beautiful angel. I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven. My heart and soul went with you.”

“The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day. I will never be the same,” she added.

In the foreword to Harry Nelson’s book “The United States of Opioids: A Prescription for Liberating a Nation in Pain,” Lisa Marie said that she became addicted to opioids and painkillers after giving birth to her twin daughters, Vivienne and Finley, in 2008. “It is time for us to say goodbye to shame about addiction,” she wrote in the book.

“Across America and the world, people are dying in mind-boggling numbers because of opioid and other drug overdose. Many more people are suffering silently, addicted to opioids and other substances. Elvis, Lisa Marie’s father, had a history of drug use, just like Lisa Marie. After he died in 1977, his estate went to his only child, a daughter. Priscilla brought Lisa Marie to the Church of Scientology around this time to find a source of faith during a hard time.

But by 2014, the rock star’s daughter had left the controversial religion for good. Lisa Marie then said in June 2018 that her share of Elvis Presley’s $100 million fortune was gone.

The singer of “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” sued her former business partner for mishandling the money, and it was said that she was still in debt when she died.
