A new teaser for Netflix’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always reunion special hints that the series’ original cast members will be putting on their morph suits once more.
Entertainment Weekly was the first to share the preview, which features former Power Rangers actors David Yost, Walter Jones, Catherine Sutherland, Steve Cardenas, Karen Ashley, and Johnny Yong Bosch.
The magazine also had exclusive photos of the actors. In the upcoming special, the legacy characters will be shown in their iconic spandex costumes as part of a story about the Power Rangers’ lasting legacy. You can watch the trailer and see photos that are only available from EW below.
Some of the cast members are back together for the special, while others are joining for the first time. Jones says in the sneak peek, “We’re a family of rangers.” “So to finally be on a set with them was really interesting.” Yost adds that the special is “such a different take on what we’ve done before, but a lot of the same elements are there.”
Obviously Austin St. John is in legal trouble, I don’t know why Amy Jo Johnson isn’t reprising?
It’s incredibly sad that both David Jason Frank (2022) & Thuy Trang (2001) are now deceased, I’d love to have the original 6 Rangers assembled one last time but now it’s impossible. pic.twitter.com/LxVjpUUbLn

Yost, who played the original Blue Ranger, Billy Cranston, and Jones, who played the original Black Ranger, Zack Taylor, are the only original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers expected to come back. Austin St. John (the first Red Ranger, Jason Lee Scott) and Amy Jo Johnson’s absences stand out (original Pink Ranger, Kimberly Hart).
Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank, who were also in the show and played the first Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan, and the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver, respectively, have both died since then.
After Frank’s sudden death in November 2022, Johnson paid him a tribute. “Jase, you were beautiful and truly unique. My life just won’t be the same without your frenetic, hilarious, caring, driven and creative ball of energy,” she wrote on Instagram. “I will always love you, dear friend. Please Rest now In Peace…” Frank committed suicide at age 49.
At the time, there was no official cause of death, but reports suggested that Frank had killed himself. Take a look at our articles on the subject if you want to learn the full story of what killed ‘Power Rangers’ actor Jason David Frank.
In the Netflix Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Special, the cast gets back together. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always features the original Black Ranger Zack Walter Emanuel Jones and the original Blue Ranger Billy in their classic costumes.
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are reuniting for a Netflix special to commemorate the show’s 30th anniversary, per the entire report.
Jonathan Entwistle, who made It’s the End of the F—-ing World and I Am Not Okay with This for Netflix, is working on a new universe of Power Rangers movies and TV shows that will all connect to each other.
Entwistle’s participation became public in 2019, but the project didn’t start until October 2020. Since then, Entwhistle and his team haven’t said much about how the big project is going.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing some familiar faces in Charlie Haskell’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, which was written by Becca Barnes and Alwyn Dale and directed by Charlie Haskell.
As per the reports and analysis, there is no solid information why both the previous actors are not coming to the show… When we get some more updates regarding the same, then we will update the same post, till then stay tuned with us at Lee Daily.
