In the French village of Ales, Lucile Randon, also referred to as Sister Andre, was born in 1904. She survived two World Wars and the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic because she was born to survive.

She became a Catholic when she was 19 years old, and eight years later, she was ordained as a nun. Sister Andre spent a significant part of the Second World War caring for children. In her younger years, she worked as a teacher and governess.

She traveled to Vichy after the war to serve in a hospital where she supported elderly patients and orphans for 28 years.

She survived a case of Covid-19 in 2021 after the virus infected the nursing home where she resided and killed 10 other patients. She later responded, “I wasn’t scared because I wasn’t scared to die,” when asked if having Covid made her nervous.
