To recognize the best in film and television each year, the Critics Choice Awards are chosen by the Critics Choice Association. These awards can provide some award campaigns the much-needed boost they require in the months leading up to the Oscars.
Because the CCA and the Academy, which determines the Oscar winners, do not share membership, the Critics Choice Awards winners are not always a perfect predictor of what the Academy will recognize in March. However, they occasionally correspond very closely with the actual Oscar winners.
