An early morning fight on Friday resulted in the death of a 34-year-old man who fell down the subway tracks at an Upper West Side station in Manhattan, and the police also arrested a second man in connection with the incident.
The police said that just before 2 a.m., they got a call that a man was being pushed onto the tracks at the station at 96th Street and Broadway. Two officers who were working at the station at the time saw a fight on the platform.
The officers rushed to stop the fight, but the man was already on the southbound tracks and had been hurt in the head, the police said. The police said that he was taken off the tracks and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 11 a.m. His name wasn’t given out right away because his family needed to be told.
