Tucker Carlson's Outbursts Lead M&M'S to Replace Its Spokescandies

Tucker Carlson’s Outbursts Lead M&M’S to Replace Its Spokescandies With Maya Rudolph

The spokes candies, or animated representations of M&M’S, will no longer appear in commercials. This comes after Tucker Carlson of Fox News spent months calling “woke” even small branding modifications to some of the characters. Comedian and actress Maya Rudolph will fill their shoes.

Carlson, who tells viewers he is a champion of victims of cancel culture, launched a cultural war campaign against the candies, eventually leading to their cancellation.

Carlson stated that-

“M&M’S will not be satisfied until every last cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous,” and that when “you’re totally turned off, we’ve achieved equity,” after the Brown M&M opted for lower block heels and the Green M&M ditched her go-go boots in favor of sneakers.

M&M’S tweeted on Monday that they were moving away from the colorful characters because:

“We weren’t sure if anyone would even notice” the earlier change in spokescandies. “But now we get it — even a candy’s shoes can be polarizing.”

Skittles tweeted in reaction to the tweet announcing the hiatus, “Our thoughts go out to the spokescandies.” Mars Wrigley, the parent corporation, also owns the M&Ms brand and the Skittles brand.

Carlson mocked the new Purple character in M&M’S last autumn for being obese on his show. As with her male counterparts in Yellow and Blue, the Purple M&M is about the same size and form.

Rudolph will make her first public appearance as the new face of M&Ms during the big game, a promotion that Mars Wrigley claims were already in the works. Rudolph is multiracial and has collected money for Democratic candidates like Kamala Harris and others who are frequent targets of Tucker Carlson’s ire.

“We are confident Ms. Rudolph will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong,” M&M’S said.
