Taylor Swift and Harry Styles gave the world a rare glimpse into their post-relationship dynamic at the 2023 Grammys, two years after they reconnected at the 2021 ceremony. At first glance, Swift gave the impression of being the most encouraging ex to Styles, what with her dancing during his performance and her applause after he won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Fans sent videos of the events on Twitter:

After dating for a few months starting in late 2012, the two ended things in the first few months of 2013. Taylor Swift (Twitter) and Styles are both nominated for Song of the Year and Best Music Video for their respective singles. Swift is nominated for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” while Styles is nominated for “As It Was.”
Though rumors have circulated that Swift based numerous songs on her 2014 album 1989 on Styles, Styles has never said anything but nice things about her songwriting and is flattered to be the focus of her work.
As he explained to Howard Stern (Instagram) in March 2020, as reported by E! and Just Jared: “I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else, and for somebody else to do that, it’s like flattering, even if the song isn’t that flattering, you still spent time on it, and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she’s a great songwriter. At least musically, they succeed.
Is this going to be particularly annoying for the other person?” is the only time you should ask yourself, “Is this song too personal?” For the simple reason that I do care,” he said.
Since their breakup, Swift hasn’t spoken much about their relationship, though in October 2015, when discussing the song “Out of the Woods,” many assumed was about their romance, she seemed to dwell on the ambiguity of their relationship.
She reflected on that time and said, “The overwhelming emotion I felt throughout the entire relationship was anxiety.”
As the author puts it, “because it felt extremely frail, very hesitant. And I’d wonder, “Okay, what’s the next obstacle? We need to know the next step that will stop this. For how much longer do I have to put up with this before we call it quits?

Is this the end of the month? What, three days already? And so, you know, I think a lot of relationships can be quite stable, and that’s kind of what you hope for, but that’s not always what you get. Also, having a connection that is unstable but yet significant in some way isn’t necessarily anything out of the norm.
