Uncoupled Season 2

Uncoupled Season 2: From Cancellation to Renewal on Showtime!

Uncoupled has been renewed by Showtime for a second season and maybe beyond, according to Deadline. Following the recent combination of Paramount+ and Showtime, Netflix last month canceled the comedy series starring Neil Patrick Harris.

The show, which was developed by Darren Star, the man behind Emily in Paris, and Modern Family alumnus Jeffrey Richman, fits in with the premium network’s current initiative to highlight more shows with “culturally varied viewpoints,” such as The L Word and The Chi.

In Uncoupled, Harris plays Michael Lawson, a middle-aged New York City real estate agent. Michael must navigate a dramatically altered dating landscape after his seventeen-year boyfriend, Colin dumps him, or he will be single for the rest of his life.

The first season’s dual themes of finding love and friendship were interspersed with some serious moments and plenty of comedic moments. Nevertheless, it was canceled by Netflix in January as MTV Studios looked for a new home for a show.

According to the article, compared to its Netflix counterpart, Uncoupled is anticipated to be edgier and racier at its new home. Fans of the show will undoubtedly be happy to learn that the premium network will give their favorite program more freedom than Netflix.

The L Word and Fellow Travelers, a Showtime limited series starring Matt Bomer, Jonathan Bailey, Allison Williams, Jelani Alladin, and Noah J. Ricketts with LGBTQ+ themes, will join the ranks of films like these.

In the last several weeks, a lot has occurred at Showtime. It was revealed that the premium network will work with the streaming service Paramount+. Chris McCarthy, the new Showtime president, has outlined a new approach that emphasizes storylines with complex characters (like those in Dexter and Yellowjackets), powerful worlds (like those in Billions and Homeland), and metro-cultural settings, which Uncoupled fits into.

While shows like American Gigolo, Let The Right One In, and Three Woman (now headed to STARZ) remain canceled, Showtime has already ordered numerous spinoffs from the Dexter and Billions worlds in an effort to expand in the first two categories.

The cast of Uncoupled’s inaugural season includes Harris as Michael Lawson, Tuc Watkins as his 17-year partner Colin McKenna, Tisha Campbell as his business partner Suzanne Prentiss, Marcia Gay Harden as Claire Lewis, Emerson Brooks as Billy Burns, and Brooks Ashmanskas as Stanley James. André De Shields, Colin Hanlon, Jai Rodriguez, Stephanie Faracy, and others complete the cast.
