Jankto, who is now playing for Sparta Prague while on loan from Getafe, came out as gay in a post that he made on Twitter. In the tweet, he said, “I no longer want to hide.” The 27-year-old midfielder has 45 caps for his country and has played for Sampdoria and Udinese in Italy in the past. He is now playing for his country.
“Hello, my name is Jakub Jankto,” he stated in a video posted to Twitter. I have my talents and flaws just like everyone else. My family and friends are here for me. I work a job, and I’ve been doing it seriously, professionally, and passionately for years.
Like everyone else, I desire to live in freedom, without prejudice, fear, or violence, but rather with love. I no longer want to disguise the fact that I am gay. This is not entertainment, as stated in a statement at the conclusion of the film. This video is intended to inspire people.

Is Jakub Jankto Gay?
Jankto follows in the footsteps of Blackpool’s Jake Daniels, the only other active British male player to come out as gay, and Australian Josh Cavallo, who made his s*xual orientation public in 2021. Supportive comments poured in shortly after Jankto’s post, with Sparta Prague tweeting: “Jakub Jankto has already spoken freely about his s*xual orientation with the club’s management, coach, and teammates.”

“Well said, Jakub,” the Professional Footballers’ Association continued. We’re all behind you!” said the players’ union FIFPRO, adding: “Jakub, live your life. Proud.”
