BTS Beats Out Global Competition to Land #2 Spot on IFPI’s Best-Selling Artists List!

Bangtan placed second on the IFPI World Artist Chart for 2022, earning praise from BTS fans. BTS came in at number two on the IFPI’s Global Artist Chart for 2022, only behind American pop icon Taylor Swift, according to a report released on February 22.

The IFPI is a nonprofit organization that promotes the global music recording business. Instead of focusing only on the music that an artist created in a given year, the ranking tries to show the musical preferences of global audiences, how they consume music across all platforms, and an artist’s complete body of work.

Naturally, ARMYs congratulated Bangtan on their most recent accomplishment, which has put yet another accolade to their ever-expanding illustrious cap, on Twitter with the trending hashtag “BTS paved the way.”

Fans of BTS celebrate the Group singers on reaching the top two of the IFPI’s annual World Artist Chart for the fourth time

The singers of Proof were applauded by ARMYs for making their fourth appearance in the top two of the IFPI World Artist Chart list for 2022, which is based on musicians who made waves with their outstanding music and commercial success the previous year.

Importantly, they debuted on the aforementioned chart in 2018 and made their second appearance in the top 10 of the IFPI’s World Artist Chart this year. BTS is now the first and only Asian act to have five straight years in the top 10 of the IFPI’s list of the world’s best-selling artists.

Because of their English disco-pop song, Dynamite, BTS won the IFPI World Recording Artist of the Year Award in 2021. They were the first South Korean, Asian, and non-English speaking performers to receive this prize.

The award has previously gone to people from North America or the United Kingdom. With their album Map of the Soul: 7, Bangtan captured the top spot on the Billboard Album rankings that year. Also, it ranked among the most popular albums on IFPI. That year, septet’s BE album broke yet another record.

The Proof vocalists won the IFPI World Recording Artist of the Year award in 2022 for the second year in a row. With the exception of their successful English songs Butter and License to Dance, they didn’t release any significant albums, but they did become the first artists to win the IFPI’s World Recording Artist Award twice in a row.

Together with Bangtan, SEVENTEEN, another member of their label, came in at number six on the 2022 list. They have now reached the top 10 of the IFPI World Recording Artist Award twice in a row. The Gen 4 boy band Stray Kids solidified their position at number seven by releasing many mini-albums that topped international music charts and were adored by fans all around the world.
