The Lord of the Rings will return to theaters in 2024 with The War of the Rohirrim. The Rings of Power, a series on Prime Video, takes place thousands of years before The Hobbit, and so marks our most recent trip to Middle-earth.
The new film is likewise set in the past, albeit not as far back as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, taking place just 183 years before those events. “Returning to Middle-earth under the direction of the gifted Kenji Kamiyama and with many of the same creative visionaries is a real treat.
A portrayal of this magnitude has never been seen before, “Toby Emmerich, head of Warner Bros., recently spoke to the publication Variety. We have compiled all the information you’ll need for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim before its 2024 release.
New Lord of the Rings Movie Cast
Most of the voice actors have been cast, and Miranda Otto, who played Galadriel in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, is returning, which is quite exciting. The film’s narrator, Éowyn, will be played by the actress once again.
As the King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand, Brian Cox (Succession) will give his distinctive voice. The cast also includes Gaia Wise as Helm’s daughter Hera, who fights alongside her family to protect Rohan, Luke Pasqualino as Wulf, the cruel leader of the Dunlendings out for vengeance against Rohan for the death of his father Freca (who will be voiced by Shaun Dooley), and Laurence Ubong Williams as Fréaláf Hildeson, Helm’s nephew and heir to the throne of Rohan.
Unknown voice roles have also been cast for Lorraine Ashbourne, Yazdan Qafouri, Benjamin Wainwright, Michael Wildman, Jude Akuwudike, Bilal Hasna, and Janine Duvitski. Kenji Kamiyama is the man in charge behind the camera.
Philippa Boyens, an Oscar winner for her work on the original screenplays for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, will serve as an executive producer alongside Joseph Chou. Richard Taylor, who won an Academy Award for his role in The Lord of the Rings, and John Howe, who illustrated The Hobbit books by J.R.R. Tolkien, will both be making returns to their roles on the creative team.
Based on a scenario by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, the new show will take place in the second age, some 250 years before the events of the original film, which is considered to take place in the third age.
