One of Twitter’s most recent layoffs was a manager who, last year, tweeted a picture of herself sleeping on an office floor after working late on a project.
The CEO of Twitter Payments, Esther Crawford, retweeted a picture of herself sleeping in a sleeping bag at work last year with the caption, “When your team is pushing round the clock to make deadlines sometimes you #SleepWhereYouWork.” Zoe Schiffer, who works for Platformer, tweeted on Sunday that Crawford had been fired.
Crawford wrote on Twitter on Sunday
“The worst take you could have from watching me go all-in on Twitter 2.0 is that my optimism or hard work was a mistake. Those who jeer & mock are necessarily on the sidelines and not in the arena. I’m deeply proud of the team for building through so much noise & chaos,”

The New York Times reported on Sunday that Twitter fired 200 people on Saturday night, which is about 10% of the company’s staff. This comes a few months after Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, fired about half of the company’s staff in November. At the time, he said that was the last round of layoffs.
The Verge said that on Monday, Musk also said in an internal memo that the remaining Twitter employees will get “very significant” performance-based stock awards. The report said that this was also his first message to employees since the layoffs over the weekend.
