Kelsea Ballerini made her first appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live with a song that seemed to poke fun at her ex-boyfriend Morgan Evans.
Ballerini sang the song “Blindsided” from her new breakup album, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat. At the end of the song, she added some extra lines that seemed to be about Evans and their ongoing divorce drama.
Ballerini looked straight into the camera after the last chorus and sang, “Now you’re singing out loud on the radio/You couldn’t say it to my face/You would’ve searched the whole world over/Yeah, sure. Ok.” “Penthouse,” her hit ballad from the same album, was also one of the songs she sang.
After some back-and-forth with her ex, 29-year-old singer Kelsea Ballerini wrote some fiery lyrics. Evans talked about the breakup most recently in a five-part docuseries for his song “Over for You.” The song, which was written about the split, came out in October, just two months after Ballerini filed for a divorce.

In the song, the Australian-born country star talks about how his then-actions wife’s caught him by surprise. Evans said that even though it was hard to share, the song’s impact on his fans and the way they could relate to his heartbreak made it all worth it. It was written just two days after he moved out of the house they shared.
Ballerini did not like the song at all. She told Alex Cooper of Call Her Daddy last month that she was “so angry, so angry” when she first heard it. “I had a pretty good grasp on my grieving journey until that song came out and I was livid. I think that maybe there’s a world that he was blindsided. I did not blindside him. Two things can be true at once, and I think like if he truly was blindsided, then where was he?”

Ballerini’s “nasty” divorce from Evans was finalised in October. Since then, she has moved on with Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, and the podcast confirmed that they are dating. A source told ET on Wednesday that the singer is happier than ever in her new relationship.
A source said that “Kelsea is focusing on the good things in her life and her relationship with Chase,” “They’re having a great time together. Chase has been super supportive of her, and they are there for each other both professionally and in their personal lives.”
