Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 2 Ending Explained

This week’s recap of The Mandalorian season 3 episode 2 starts on Tatooine, where Peli Motto is haggling with a customer about fixing his speeder. She then tells a group of jawas to get the parts they stole to fix the rodian’s vehicle. Din Djarin and Grogu come to ask for help to bring IG-11 back to life as she does this.

Instead of fixing the IG unit, the mechanic offers R5-D4 to help him on his mission to Mandalore. Din and Grogu move closer to Mandalore’s orbit now that the astromech droid is with them. After getting into the atmosphere of the planet, the bounty hunter finds that they can’t talk to anyone else because of the magnetic distortion coming from the surface of Mandalore. When they land, he tells R5-D4 to look ahead and see if it’s safe to move forward.

After a few seconds, they lose contact with the droid, so Din goes outside to see what’s going on. Din goes into a cave that is only a few metres from his starship. Inside, he sees the ruins of a city while two creatures that look like apes attack him. After killing them, Din finds R5-D4, and the two of them go back to where Grogu is.

At this point, they find out that Mandalore’s air isn’t poisonous at all. This makes him take Grogu underground to check out the mines. Din tells Grogu that the mines are under the city hall. As they go deeper, a robot that looks like a crab catches Din and takes him back to its lair. Grogu quietly follows and sees an alien robot come out of the droid to look at the being it caught. Din’s blaster and Darksaber are thrown away from him as this happens.

Now that the alien who was holding Din is gone, Grogu tries to use the Force to free Din but fails. Din tells him to run away and go to Bo-Katan to ask her for help. Grogu goes back to the surface in his egg-shaped speeder, gets into Din’s ship, and flies to Kalevala. When Grogu gets to that planet, he is able to get Bo-Katan to help him find Din again on Mandalore. Bo-Katan goes back to Mandalore with R5-D4 and Grogu.

The droid stays on the ship while she and the youngling go into the cave. Grogu takes her back to where Din is, but the creatures that look like apes come back to attack them. As soon as Bo-Katan knocked them both out, Din’s captor began to take his blood. Lucky for him, Bo-Katan comes to save him.

The Mandalorian leader beats the alien with the help of the Darksaber, but when he checks on him, the alien is already asleep. Just as she was about to save her friend, the person holding her turned on the crab-like droid, but Bo-Katan quickly beat it. When Din wakes up again, he finds that Bo-Katan is making food for him and Grogu.

Din and Bo-Katan have a short talk, and then Din tells Bo-Katan that he is going to continue his journey to the Living Waters to find redemption. Bo-Katan goes with him to help him find the place. As the three get deeper into their journey, Din learns a lot about Mandalore’s history and Bo-time Katan’s as its ruler.

When they finally get to the Living Waters, Din enters them while swearing the Creed while still wearing his armor. But before he can finish, something unknown pulls Din deeper into the Living Waters, and Bo-Katan follows him. Again, she wakes up underwater to find Din unconscious and a mythosaur waiting for them. As the episode ends, Bo-Katan is able to save Din before any more harm can come to them.
