The photo-sharing site Meta Platform said Thursday that Instagram was back up for most users after a global outage. It also said that a technical problem that had been going on for hours had been fixed.
“Earlier tonight, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing Instagram. We resolved this issue for everyone as quickly as possible,” Instagram said in a tweet.
Downdetector, a website that keeps track of outages, said that at its worst, more than 53,000 Instagram users couldn’t get on the site. The website gathers status reports from a number of sources, such as errors on its platform that users report.
