Does Eren Stop the Rumbling? Attack on Titan Ending Explained!

Attack on Titan has been one of the most important anime shows in recent years, so the end of it is a big deal. Fans are still on the edge of their seats, even though the last season has been split into three parts over almost three years, and this last part has been split into two movies.

The anime has changed a lot since it first came out in 2013. It started out as a story about the last people on Earth fighting off giant monster titans, but the ending is going to be the most heartbreaking yet. One of the things that makes Attack on Titan stand out is how willing it is to kill off its characters, which is clear when the Rumbling happens.

The Rumbling started at the end of last season and came to a head in the first episode of Season 4 Part 3 Special, which just came out today on Crunchyroll. But what is the Rumbling, and does it stop by the end of this new episode?

What is the Rumbling?

The Rumbling is an event that Eren Yeager starts that makes a lot of huge Titans that destroy the whole Earth. The Attack on Titan Wiki says, “The Rumbling was a terrible event in which Karl Fritz’s Wall Titans marched across the earth and killed every living thing there.

It was a major deterrent for the People of Ymir on Paradis Island for more than a hundred years, until Eren Yeager broke down the Walls, set the Wall Titans free, and started the Rumbling in the year 854.

“The Rumbling completely destroyed the northern continent of Marley four days after they first set foot on the continent’s mainland. They also caused a lot of damage to the southern continent and the countries around it. About 80% of all human life on Earth was wiped out.”

You can see pictures of the Rumbling in the show’s opening sequence, which also has a song called “The Rumbling,” which is also a great song.

Does Eren Stop the Rumbling? Attack on Titan Ending Explained

No, the Rumbling has not stopped as of the most recent episode of Attack on Titan. In fact, our main characters are lucky to still be alive.

The new episode is about how people tried to avoid the destruction, but mostly failed. Levi, Mikasa, Armin, and the rest of our main heroes also have trouble getting away from the noise, which leads to a major death that we won’t reveal here.

As the episode comes to a close, we see refugees, including Reiner’s mother, running to get on planes that will take them to safety. They don’t make it, but they notice that the planes are trying to bomb the Rumbling and are heading in that direction. This attack fails, though, and the killing keeps on going.

A fan tweeted:

But our main heroes arrive in a plane, so it looks like the fight isn’t over yet. After not being able to come to an agreement with Eren, the only thing left to do is fight. At the end of the episode, our heroes jump down onto the Rumbling, where Eren and the Beast Titan are also, and turn into titans.

There’s no doubt that this will be a big battle, which will make the next and last episode of the anime a truly epic way to end the show. Attack on Titan Part 3 Episode 1 of Season 4 is now available to watch on Crunchyroll.
