Kansas Coach Bill Self is Hospitalized and Will Miss the Rest of the Big 12 Season

Bill Self, the head coach at the University of Kansas, was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday night. The physicians assured him it was routine and had nothing to do with his heart.

Dr. Steve Stites, chief medical officer of the University of Kansas Health System, dispelled rumors that Bill had suffered a heart attack. Dr. Steve Stites gave Bill Self’s health update.

Bill stayed in the hospital on Thursday after his procedure went well. Dr. Stites did not elaborate on what kind of treatment Bill Self had, but he did say that the coach would be fine in the end. This bodes well for Self’s health and his return to his role as head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team.

As a result, Self was unavailable to play for the Kansas Jayhawks in their Thursday matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers on the men’s basketball team. However, the team was in good hands with assistant coach Norm Roberts taking over as interim head coach.

The Jayhawks beat West Virginia 78-61 without Self on the bench, displaying remarkable resiliency and adaptability in the face of adversity. Bill Self received support from many people.
