The relationship between Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos wasn’t always happy. The Live With Kelly and Ryan star gave viewers a peek into her 27-year marriage to Mark, 51, calling him “insanely jealous.”
Kelly, 52, said in a teaser for the first episode of her SiriusXM podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera: “My biggest gripe about you over the course of our marriage—and this is not recent because it definitely changed—is that you used to be tremendously jealous and it was a hard pill to swallow. Being married to a jealous partner is incredibly difficult.
According to the Hope & Faith actress, Mark had a “perception of a situation.”
Kelly recalls,
“We didn’t take our honeymoon until later, so it was our first week of marriage.” “I visited you in Boston when you were at work. We went to an Italian restaurant, and the server was a very endearing elderly man who looked to be in his 70s or even 80s. Then he asked, “And for the principessa?” while stooping down.”
Mark joined in, thinking about what he refers to as a “character fault.” I recall that, he admitted. “Hey, I was fairly wild at age 25. Nonetheless, I was definitely followed for a while by that jealousy thing. I’ve stopped being envious.” Kelly joked that she was “so glad you weren’t.”

It looks bad, Mark said. “It’s such an unpleasant sensation inside, as ugly as it feels to the person who has to be the recipient of it. If it’s any comfort, you are aware that you are crazy. The envious individual is aware of how this is wrong and nasty, yet they are powerless to stop themselves.”
The pair, who wed in 1996, overcome the obstacle after Mark put in the effort. He continued, “I wanted to work on myself, and it was one of the big things that I needed to concentrate on because it was getting in the way.”
The couple, who first connected while working together on the soap opera All My Children, welcomed three children: Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 20. What will happen in Kelly and Mark’s lives after that? The Riverdale alum will take over for Ryan Seacrest on Live With Kelly and Ryan next month, so the two will be seeing a lot more of one another on-air.
Mark expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with his wife once more. Mark told ABC on the Oscars red carpet in 2023, “I am really excited. “On Monday, April 17, I debut the program. I am beyond flattered and thrilled.”
