Writer Christopher McQuarrie announced on Instagram Wednesday that Rolf Saxon, who played William Donloe in the first “Mission: Impossible,” will reprise the role in the next franchise conclusion, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.”
McQuarrie posted a picture of Saxon’s character, who by the end of the first “Mission: Impossible” had grown a beard. Donloe was fired and transferred to a polar substation in Alaska after Tom Cruise’s super spy Ethan Hunt dangled from a cable and dropped through the vault’s ceiling to steal the NOC list.

Additionally, McQuarrie revealed on Wednesday that Inuit actor Lucy Tulugarjuk would be joining the cast. She’s wearing a warm, heavy parka on what looks like a wintry base; will the final “Mission: Impossible” movie make a connection to the first film?
The Emmy-winning star of “Ted Lasso,” Hannah Waddingham, will also be appearing in “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two,” as McQuarrie revealed on Instagram earlier this month. Part Two will hit theatres on June 28, 2024, less than a year after the premiere of “Part One” this summer.
It’s not just Saxon who’s returning to the “Mission: Impossible” series. Henry Czerny reprises his role as IMF director Eugene Kittridge in the seventh and final installment of the “Mission: Impossible” film series. Alanna Mitsopolis, daughter of Max Mitsopolis (Vanessa Redgrave), a black-market armaments dealer, will be portrayed by Vanessa Kirby.
