“At about 11 a.m. ET on Thursday (March 23, 2023), our beloved singer Lana Del Rey passed away. Lana Del Rey was born on June 21, 1986, in New York. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
As soon as the news of the death of the talented 36-year-old singer and composer spread, hundreds of fans began leaving notes of condolence on the Facebook page. The usual death hoax panic ensued on Twitter.
While some admirers took the tweet at face value, others were naturally cautious in light of the recent spate of hoaxes reporting the deaths of celebrities. Some people pointed out that the story hadn’t been covered by any major American network, which would be unusual for a celebrity death like Lana Del Rey’s.
