Victoria Alonso, a senior executive at Marvel Studios, was recently fired out of the corporation, new report may explain why. According to a report published by The Hollywood Reporter on Friday, Alonso was fired from the firm for repeatedly breaking her contract while producing the Oscar-nominated Amazon drama Argentina, 1985.
Insiders included in their reporting claim that Alonso broke an agreement from 2018 by working for a rival studio, which is against Disney’s code of business behavior. Alonso allegedly had numerous warnings regarding the contract violation, and as a result, she was fired the week following the Oscars.
This confirms reports that Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Alan Bergman, to whom Marvel Studios executives report, made the decision to remove Alonso, not Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Alonso was apparently taken by surprise by the decision to terminate her because Feige reportedly did not step in.
Alonso has been a longtime employee at Marvel Studios, most recently holding the position of president of physical production, post-production, visual effects, and animation.

Marvel’s Disney+ Shows Delayed or Not?
The departure of Alonso comes amid rumors that Marvel may postpone a number of its initiatives, including many of its Disney+ series. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, had said that the “pace” of the MCU series would alter. Feige responded, “Both, I think,” when pressed to specify whether that meant fewer shows per year or longer gaps between releases.
Feige stated, “I do think one of the powerful aspects of being at Marvel Studios is having these films and shows hit the zeitgeist,” “It is harder to hit the zeitgeist when there’s so much product out there – and so much ‘content,’ as they say, which is a word that I hate. [Laughs] But we want Marvel Studios and the MCU projects to really stand out and stand above. So, people will see that as we get further into Phase 5 and 6. The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.”
