The Walking Dead: Dead City Trailer

The Walking Dead officially announce on Twitter:

The Walking Dead: Dead City’s first look trailer debuted the same week as the series finale of The Walking Dead. Along with confirming that the show would debut this year, it also provided our first glimpse of Maggie and Negan’s tense reunion in New York City and hinted at some of the perils of their excursions.

Even though it’s brief, this teaser trailer did an excellent job of introducing the new TWD Universe era and showcasing some of the various sights (and even brand-new Walkers?) we can look forward to in Dead City.

Just a few months later, a second trailer was unveiled, giving viewers a glimpse of how Maggie and Negan rekindle their relationship and how saving her kid might be the last chance for him to atone for the horrible deeds he committed years earlier.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Release Date

On Sunday, June 18, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET, The Walking Dead: Dead City makes its television debut on AMC and AMC+. It follows Fear The Walking Dead’s midseason finale. It will then shift to the 9 p.m. ET time slot for the remainder of its five-week run.

According to a more recent update from the cable network, the series will now debut in June rather than April as originally planned (this was announced at New York Comic-Con along with the first look photographs from the series). The June release date was later confirmed at WonderCon in March.

The Walking Dead: Dead City Plot

The events of The Walking Dead’s series finale will be followed by those of The Walking Dead: Dead City, which indicates that the episode will take place one year after the events of the series finale.

We know that Maggie is still there, seemingly dividing her time between Alexandria, Hilltop, and the Commonwealth, while Negan is no longer residing in any of the established communities of the survivors. The two will run into each other in Manhattan once more.

AMC recently released the official synopsis, and it appears to confirm that there will be another time jump. The text is provided below:

Years have passed since we last saw Maggie and Negan and they must now form a tenuous alliance in order to accomplish a dangerous mission. Maggie and Negan journey to the island of Manhattan, which, having been isolated since the beginning of the walker apocalypse, has developed its own unique threats.

While in the city, Maggie and Negan encounter native New Yorkers, evade a marshal with a troubled past, and hunt down a notorious killer. But as the pair moves deeper into the gritty depths of the walker-infested city, it becomes apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past may prove just as great a threat as the dangers of the present.
