Nintendo wants to avoid making the same mistakes as the live-action Super Mario Bros. movie from the 1990s, so they’ve hired Illumination, the animation studio that gave us the Despicable Me, Minions, Sing, and Secret Life of Pets franchises.
Nintendo has also put together an all-star cast for the Super Mario Bros. Movie to give Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Bowser their voices. This will help the characters come to life on the big screen. Here’s everything you need to know about The Super Mario Bros Movie.

Mario Movie Release Date
Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently playing in theaters. The movie’s release on April 5, 2023, in more than 60 markets around the world, including the US and the UK, was finally decided upon after multiple adjustments to the original release date.
Elsewhere, In areas in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, the Super Mario Bros. movie will be released on a range of April and May dates, with the Japanese release date planned for April 28 to match with the Golden Week Holiday period.

Is Super Mario Bros. coming to Netflix?
We don’t know for sure when The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be on Netflix, but Universal, which owns Illumination, has a deal with Netflix that says their movies will be on Netflix at least four months after they are on Peacock.
We can look at other recent movies from Illumination, like Minions: The Rise of Gru, to get an idea of when this one might come out. Rise of Gru was only available to stream on Peacock until September 2022. About seven months after it came out in theaters, it was added to Netflix. Based on this schedule, you can probably stream The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Netflix in October or November 2023.
Will It Be Available on More Streaming Platforms?
As was already said, Illumination’s earlier movies, like Minions: The Rise of Gru, were first shown on Peacock. Rise of Gru could only be streamed on Peacock about three months after it came out. Based on this information, we can expect to be able to stream Super Mario Bros. Movie on Peacock sometime this summer, probably in June or July 2023. Before the Peacock window, you will also be able to rent or buy the movie digitally.
